Town Hall

Dear Guests!
Welcome to the town of thermal water, folk art and festivals.
Our intimate town can be found at the meeting of the Bükk Mountains and the Great Hungarian Plain. The town can be reached from Budapest through the M3 motorway with a one-hour drive.
In 1464 King Matthias donated the market-town status to the settlement. Nowadays Mezokövesd with its 18.000 residents is the economical and cultural centre of the region and popular beauty spot of the Eger-Tokaj Mountainous Region. The repute of the town is due to the "matyó" embroidery which is recorded as a hungarian curiosity and the curative thermal water of the Zsóry Thermal Bath which is well-known beyond the borders of Hungary as well.
The Agricultural Machine Museum which is unique in Europe, the Matyó Museum, the traditional houses of the "Hadas" town district, the Remembrance House of Kisjankó Bori, the typical churches of the town and the local Gallery are waiting for your visit.
Everyone can find programmes according to one's range of interest among the varied events between spring and autumn. I wish good health and active relaxation for the tourists coming here and the inhabitants of the town.
Enjoy yourselves in "Matyóland"!
